Church council
What is the church council?
The daily management of the Protestant church of Dendermonde. Our church council consists of the minister as chairman and four members elected by the congregation. Some are elders, and some are deacons. An elder is mainly responsible for the content of the faith. A deacon is mainly responsible for spiritual and material assistance. In practice, the church council works together and decides together.
The church council meets once a month. All members of the congregation may submit agenda items for this meeting.
Once a year a members meeting is organized in which the church council and board of directors are accountable to the congregation, answer questions and discuss ideas together.

What is the board of directors?
Five elected parishioners, in cooperation with the minister, look after the material affairs in the board of directors. (In the Roman Catholic Church this is called the 'Church Factory'.) Think of the finances, taking care of the church building and contacts with the (local) authorities.

In case of serious suffering, and in all kinds of crisis situations, you can contact our pastor for spiritual assistance. This is not limited to people of our faith community, everyone can ask for this.

Our history
There have always been Protestants in Dendermonde since the 16th century.
The current church community was founded in 1926. Since 1976, services have been held in the church building on the corner of Oude Vest
and the Lindanusstraat
